Organization's Summary Statement:The Office of Donor and Alumni Relations in the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, College Park, seeks a dynamic and energetic Program Manager for alumni and Donor Events.
The Program Manager, Alumni and Donor Events is responsible for successfully planning and implementing events involving external constituents, donors, alumni, and corporate partners. The Office of Donor and Alumni Relations hosts 30+ “best-in-class” events annually on campus and in the Greater DC/Baltimore area with occasional regional events.
The Program Manager, Alumni and Donor Events is a collaborative partner to the Director
of Donor Relations, the Director of Alumni and Corporate Engagement, frontline fundraisers, and Smith Programs and Events to strengthen donor relationships through meaningful events and engagement opportunities.
The Program Manager, Alumni and Donor Events manages all aspects of alumni, donor and corporate stewardship events. This includes but is not limited to contract negotiation and management, logistical planning, production of promotional materials (emails, paper invitations, social media content), development of briefing materials for Smith School leadership, and post-event follow-up. The Program Manager, Alumni and Donor Events will oversee the maintenance of event data for reporting and strategic decision making.
In addition to annual signature alumni, donor, and corporate events, the Program Manager,
Alumni and Donor Events will liaise in the planning and execution of high profile external and school-wide events collaborating with the Office of the Dean and Smith Programs and Events (i.e., ribbon cuttings and groundbreakings, anniversaries, campaign events and special strategic projects).
This position will co-supervise student workers.

Physical Demands:
The position requires both sedentary work as well as the physical stamina required for transporting event materials and event setup and breakdown.
It will require frequent standing, walking, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Some evening and weekend hours and some regional travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Five (5) years of professional event planning experience. Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education. Knowledge of event and conference planning. Skill in oral and written communication. Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products. Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments. Ability to multitask while demonstrating a commitment to customer service and sensitivity to a culturally and ethnically diverse community.Additional Job Details
