Sr. Buyer (Contract) 1

we are looking for our corporate office in Troy

 

Essential Functions/Duties

  • Interaction with the program team, plant, suppliers, and customers; participation in relevant team meetings
  • Implementation of purchasing processes and objectives within the program
  • Managing and communication of all purchasing issues related to the program, including engineering change orders
  • Proposal of sourcing strategy in adherence with purchasing manager, duration of RFQ and lead on value analysis process, commercial negotiation, preparation of sourcing recommendation, finalization and negotiation of purchasing-related contracts and agreements with suppliers
  • Managing commercial details on all purchasing parts
  • Explore the market for new materials, supplies and processes in order to develop new sources and/or generate cost benefits and/or risk reductions
  • Cost Saving Initiatives: Initiate projects that will lead to cost savings
  • Ensuring adequate contracted capacities at suppliers
  • Has the ability to stop production, upon notifying the supervisor and Plant Manager for Safety related matters requiring immediate attention.
  • Interaction with HBPO Operations and current production facilities for supplier-related topics throughout the program life.
  • Understand and comply with company EHS policy
  • Strong data analysis skills, ability to interpret data to make recommendations.  Reporting and presentation abilities. 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or Management, Engineering or Equivalent

 

Professional /Technical Training:

  • PC / common working knowledge (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Knowledge / experience in project work
  • Facilitator-/presentation techniques
  • SAP / common working knowledge
  • Skilled negotiator
  • Intermediate to advanced Analysis skills
  • Technical understanding of product, parts and equipment

 

Related Experience/Specialized Knowledge:

  • 3-5 years in similar position
  • Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
