THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a key strategic and organizational leader, the Chief Financial Officer [CFO] is instrumental in the development of financial and business modeling and implementation of the strategic plan that results in profitable growth and maximizes shareholder value. The CFO will have responsibility for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the Company, and has primary leadership for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial and back office related activities. The position will report to the President of Lakeshirts and will have regular interaction with our founders and external investors.
Our ideal candidate must be a hands-on servant leader who is comfortable being a player and coach. This role requires exceptional attention to detail (special projects, process improvement, etc.) on a routine basis, while also being a key member of the executive management team and contributing to the strategic direction of the Company. We're looking for a strategic-minded individual, who is nimble and proactive in the face of constant change and growth. And most importantly, they must be humble, energetic, with a sense of humor, and open to embracing our values-driven culture on a daily basis. Oh, and if you love dogs, all the better!
Essential Job Functions | What You'll Do
- Participate in the development of the corporation's strategic business plans and programs as a strategic partner to the co-CEO's, President and Board.
- Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to long-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. Provide insight and recommendations to both short-term and long-term growth plan of organization.
- Work with other functional leaders and assist them in utilizing data and analytics to improve operations. Identify, acquire and implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information. Work with departments and together implement improvements to automate processes and increase efficiency.
- Draft Board materials and present to the Board regarding financial performance on quarterly basis.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's financial functions and performance.
- Partner with the executive team to lead all acquisition activity.
- Develop the annual budget for the Company in partnership with the management team including key performance indicators aligned with annual goals and long-term strategic plan
- Analyze financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets to identify trends and opportunities. Prepare and present monthly updates internally and to investors.
- Maintain outstanding banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners.
- Lead team in identifying, acquiring, and implementing systems and software to improve the customer experience and increase environmentally conscious practices as they relate to accounting functions (i.e., on-line credit application, bill pay, etc.).
Qualifications | What You'll Bring
- Financial Leadership: The CFO will ensure integrity in all of accounting, business reporting, budgetary controls for both current and long-term goals. The successful candidate will have 5 plus years' standalone experience as the head of the financial function.
- Owner Mentality: The CFO must think and act like an owner of the business, always striving to optimize cash flow management, improve EBITDA and accelerate business performance; and must focus on all elements of business / finance that lead to overall value creation for the entity. They will be a great steward of the business. Adopt a long-term perspective about the business. Is aware of how critical issues or market conditions will affect the business and utilizes this information to help guide business decisions.
- Partnership with Investors: The CFO will have the ability to interact and build relationships with both management and outside investors. Ability to evaluate the likely benefit of mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures and their impact on Lakeshirts' growth and position within the markets served. Previous experience working in a private equity environment is desired.
