About the role

Position Summary:         

Assistant to the Director to co-lead the implementation of all core elements of the Pava Scholars Program, ensuring consistency, quality, and follow-through.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner in the week-to-week flow of programming, including learning sessions, leadership seminars, and cohort activities
  • Play a central role in building and sustaining a strong cohort culture grounded in serious learning, shared purpose, and mutual respect
  • Co-lead the implementation of all core elements of the Pava Scholars Program, ensuring consistency, quality, and follow-through
  • Partner in the week-to-week flow of programming, including learning sessions, leadership seminars, and cohort activities

Beit Midrash Learning Coordination

  • Coordinate Beit Midrash learning, including chavruta pairings, faculty involvement, and scheduling
  • Ensure that Beit Midrash sessions are purposeful, well-structured, and aligned with the broader goals of the program

Student Mentorship and Development

  • Serve as a mentor to Pava Scholars, with regular and ongoing engagement
  • Guide students in developing their Torah voice, including preparation for teaching, public speaking, and written work

Admissions and Selection

  • Partner fully with the Director in the evaluation of candidates
  • Conduct candidate interviews and play an active role in assessing intellectual ability, religious commitment, interpersonal presence, and leadership potential
  • Participate in admissions deliberations and cohort selection

Cohort Culture and Experience

  • Play a central role in building and sustaining a strong cohort culture grounded in serious learning, shared purpose, and mutual respect
  • Facilitate cohort-based conversations, reflection, and peer learning
  • Partner in the design and execution of retreats, trips, and immersive experiences

Ongoing Program Development

  • Serve as a close thought partner in refining program structure, sequencing, and student experience
  • Help identify areas for improvement and ensure that adjustments are implemented effectively
  • Contribute to planning for future program development and expansion

Teaching

  • Two (2) Jewish Studies classes per semester or 1 double course in the Beit Midrash program (total 4 credits per semester)

Experience & Educational Background:

Strong Educational background in Jewish Philosophy and the ability to act as a liaison between students and administration, and work closely with multiple offices to streamline programming and logistics.  

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $80,000
