Business Analyst (Must have Deregulated and C&I Background)
Overview of Role/Job Purpose: VertexOne is looking for a Business Analyst (BA) with expertise in meter-to-cash processes and Customer Information Systems (CIS) within the deregulated energy markets.
This role focuses on supporting all clients, with an emphasis on Commercial and Industrial (C&I) clients. To succeed in this role, candidates must have a strong grasp of Commercial and Industrial (C&I) operations and deregulated industry-specific requirements to drive impactful results across client engagements. In this role, the BA will gather, interpret and document business requirements, write user stories, provide best practices, triage customer issues and defects, determine workarounds, analyze data, create reports and perform programing testing.
Essential Job Duties (C&I Experience Required):
• Support cross-functional initiatives across roadmaps, client projects, implementations, market mandates, and ongoing client support.
• Engage in implementation projects by actively participating during the implementation phase and assisting with a smooth transition to Support, including for clients in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector.
• Work with CSM’s & Client Analysts to triage issues for existing clients and post go-live for new clients, including Commercial & Industrial (C&I) clients.
• Collaborate closely with clients —particularly those in the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector—to review enhancement requests, gather comprehensive business requirements, and develop a clear understanding of end-to-end business process flows.
• Write and document clear user stories, using Gherkin syntax, to ensure proposed solutions align with client needs, industry best practices, and the unique requirements of the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector.
• Participate in 3 Amigos sessions with Development and QA to discuss, refine, and confirm shared understanding of user stories and requirements prior to development.
• Execute user acceptance testing (UAT) for enhancements, projects, and roadmap initiatives—particularly those impacting Commercial & Industrial (C&I) clients—while thoroughly documenting, reporting, and tracking any issues identified during the testing process.
• Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis of reported issues, including those related to complex Commercial & Industrial (C&I) account structures.
• Prioritize and work client issues, providing issue analysis and documentation, ensuring Commercial & Industrial (C&I) specific use cases are addressed.
• Communicate technical information to clients as needed, adapting explanations to suit Commercial & Industrial (C&I) business models when necessary.
• Research and stay updated on utilities market mandates, regulations, and business rules, ensuring compliance for clients and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) clients.
• Ensure issues are identified, updated, and resolved in a timely manner, especially those affecting high-impact Commercial & Industrial (C&I) clients.
• Participate in internal and client workshops for new clients, new products, and partner integrations including those tailored for the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) sector.
