Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field. Licensure or eligible for licensure as a Professional Counselor, Psychological Associate, or Social Worker.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • U.S. Citizenship or Employment Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care and medical education
  • At least one year of clinical experience in pediatrics. 

 

Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing mental health evaluation and therapeutic intervention to patients. Works under the supervision of a Psychologist, Mental Health Manager and/or Program Director.

 

Job Duties:

  • Contributes to the success of the UTMB Managed Care organization.
  • Interviews, evaluates and diagnoses patients identified as having mental health needs.
  • Provides individual and group psychotherapy and crisis intervention.
  • Develops, implements and reviews Individual Treatment Plans.
  • Assisting with training and education of mental health, medical and other staff.
  • Assists in the implementation of Quality Improvement/Quality Management (QI/QM) programs and monitoring compliance with required policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provides routine consultation and communication with supervisor and/or attending provider regarding the status of assigned patients.
  • Completes clinically appropriate and timely documentation.
  • Liaisons with patients, patient families, on-site departments and community agencies to coordinate current treatment and/or facilitate aftercare services
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.

The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Developmental, Behavioral, and Mental Health at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) John Sealy School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Mental Health Clinician (Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or Licensed Psychological Associate) to join our multidisciplinary team of developmental-behavioral and mental health providers. Our clinical services are based in our outpatient pediatric clinics in Galveston and League City. 

The successful candidate will provide direct mental health services to pediatric patients and collaborate with a team of psychologists, nurse practitioners, and developmental-behavioral pediatricians to support the emotional and behavioral health of children and adolescents.
