We are looking for a Lead Avionics and Sensing Hardware (LASH) Engineer to join our team. The goal of a LASH Engineer at Wisk is to ensure that R&D projects related to avionics and autonomous sensors reach their goals and set us up for future success. You will be part of the Advanced Research and Development team that focuses on the following key areas: Advanced Concepts, Special Mission Projects, and Competitive Intelligence.

Why we need you:
- With that vision in mind, we are looking for a LASH Engineer to join our Advanced Research and Development team. The goal of the Lead Avionics and Sensing Hardware Engineer at Wisk is to create avionics and sensing hardware project plans with team leaders: including objectives, results, impact, resources, and schedules. Aid in the execution of those projects: write code, turn wrenches, build harnesses, analyze data, fix stuff, and document results! Lead coordination efforts with functional and project team leads. Communicate progress, opportunities, blockers, and status to the R&D Sr. Manager, CTO, and other leaders as required. Encourage the team to work across boundaries, and get things done.Drive the appropriate amount of process and rigor to learn quickly, and capture the results to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will be part of the Advanced Research and Development team that evaluates new avionics systems and autonomous vehicle sensing hardware such as those used for collision, detection and avoidance (CD&R). Your goal is to make sure that these projects are completed within cost and schedule constraints while meeting all evaluation criteria. Your mission is to lead the planning and execution of these projects to allow informed decisions to be made at the highest level of Wisk.
- The successful candidate is highly knowledgeable and an experienced technical leader who has direct hands-on experience in avionics and sensing hardware for experimental aircraft, with the technical breadth necessary to interface with engineering functions such as Hardware, Software, Manufacturing, Test, and Certification. In this role, the candidate must be self-motivated with a strong bias for action, compassion, inclusivity, and excellent problem solving skills across multidisciplinary skill sets. You're a "hands-on" leader. You get things done. You drive alignment, clarity, focus and accountability, and marshal people and resources to accomplish the goal. What you will do:
- As part of the Advanced Research and Development organization, you will act as a Lead Avionics and Sensing Hardware Engineer for a novel type of aircraft development targeting the autonomous UAM market
- You will take part in completion of R&D avionics and autonomy related goals set by the CTO and Wisk.
- You will support avionics and CD&R hardware integration and testing for R&D
- You will help support problem solving activities related to R&D avionics and sensing systems
- You will take part in avionics and sensor integration planning, integration, debug, test, and evaluation
- In some areas, you will be working closely with A&P mechanics, R&D engineers, Software Engineers, Flight Test Engineers, and Test Pilots
- You will plan and execute ground and flight avionics testing for R&D
- As a LASH Engineer, you will lead avionics/sensor test planning and support execution of ground and flight test activities for R&D
What you have done:
- B.S. or higher in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering with at least 10 years experience in the integration, evaluation, and testing of integrated avionics, sensing, autonomous, and electrical systems.
- You have worked on various aerospace and/or aviation systems and subsystems
- You have hands-on experience fabricating, integrating, and testing avionics systems or hardware including RADAR, inertial/GPS navigation, and optical sensors.
- You have a strong and applied knowledge of complex mechanical and electrical systems as they relate to avionics and autonomy sensor systems
