Position: Clinical Nurse - Ambulatory Triage Navigator
Location: University Hospital
Shift: Full-Time Days Remote after orientation, with 1-2 days a month in house

Position Overview
The Clinical Nurse - Ambulatory Navigator coordinates the care needs of assigned patients and develops comprehensive care plans to manage care delivery across the patient care continuum. This role partners with patients and their primary oncology physicians to craft personalized care plans based on individual needs and preferences. The Navigator collaborates with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other health professionals to ensure timely delivery of appropriate tests and treatments through triaging the patient during their acute treatment phase. They advocate for the patient, balancing care needs with financial considerations to ensure treatments are both efficient and effective. This position is new to the Simon Cancer Center and the person who steps into this role must be a self-started and motivated to help get this program into place to serve our patient population. This person must be technology savvy and able to critically think and troubleshoot while being able to a comforting presence to the patient and their caregiver.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate care for assigned patients, developing comprehensive, personalized care plans.
- Partner with patients and physicians to ensure care aligns with individual needs and preferences.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to facilitate timely tests, treatments, and interventions.
- Advocate for the patient throughout the care continuum.
- Assist in balancing clinical needs and financial considerations for efficient care delivery.
- Support patient education and facilitate communication among care team members.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education:
- Associates of Nursing (ASN) required.
- Bachelor’s of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Licensure:
- Active RN license in Indiana or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of clinical work experience preferred.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Advanced life support certifications and specialty certifications may be required per department policies.
- Skills:
- Proficiency with personal computers, word processing, and database software.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medical record requirements, regulations, and policies.
