The Opportunity

Our Diagnostics business currently has an opportunity for a Senior Manager, Demand Planning in our Chicago, Lake Forest IL location. This person will be responsible for creating and meeting short- and long-term goals to support our customers and business requirements through management of the planning, material control, and instrument returns functions. Sets strategic direction for the materials organization in forecasting, planning, and production of goods and services for the site and commercial operations worldwide. Leads key supply chain strategic and tactical initiatives. The organization achieves this through balancing numerous conflicts and constantly changing elements, e.g. customer demand, inventory investment, production capabilities, changing business needs and strategies, regulatory requirements, technology changes and supplier capabilities.

What You’ll Work On

  • Responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality system, including quality policy, planning the organizational structure to support the quality system, and management review of the quality system to determine its effectiveness.
  • Manages the development of production plans to support end customer sales, independent demand, and finished goods changes.
  • Manages finished goods inventory level and safety stock sin support of end customer sales at the desired service levels, while maintaining the lowest inventory investment possible.
  • Resolves product delivery conflicts with plans and prioritizes production schedules.
  • Sets strategic and tactical direction for the materials organization to support business plans. Develops strategic improvement initiatives to meet long-range goals; assure implementation of these initiatives.
  • Manages all aspects of material control supporting the production areas, to include the material flow, replenishment levels and inventory accuracy for production material. Provides short/long term production plans for capacity analysis to enhance decisions related to headcount, key equipment and/or facility investments.
  • Consolidates, reviews, and approves information required for plans and updates; presents to senior management. Ensures schedule commitments and financial goals are met.
  • Manages resources, provides direction to staff, approves broad staffing decisions and develops the organization to ensure effectiveness.
  • Coordinates, reviews, and approves operations budgets, capital plans, productivity/quality projects, cost improvement projects and safety projects.
  • Manages the introduction of new products to ensure a flexible strategy is maintained.
  • Translates inputs from technical meetings and Marketing into impact on short term and long-term raw material procurement strategies.
