Sales Application Engineer

<h4>Position Summary</h4> <p>The Sales/Applications Engineer is a customer facing position responsible for quoting and co-designing custom machinery with our customers to meet their specifications and requirements; including new complete production lines, modules, and/or modifications of existing machinery. Job function includes direct interaction with Customers, Sales, Technical Support, Operations/Manufacturing, Vendors and Management to determine product requirements, and develop designs/technical drawings and specifications in a timely manner to meet tight schedules.&nbsp;</p> <h4>Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities</h4> <p><em>Include, but not exclusive to the following. Other duties may be assigned:</em></p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of web handling and converting equipment/process lines and their components a plus.</li> <li>Estimate costs and write quotes for complete machine solutions to include raw material, purchased components and systems, shop labor, engineering effort, shipping, safety, guarding, and other aspects of a complete machine.</li> <li>Ability to size power transmission, bearings, structural components and framing, roller deflections etc. a plus.</li> <li>Use internal proprietary software for sizing components.</li> <li>Review or write customer specifications for customer web converting equipment.</li> <li>Be capable of reading engineering drawings and understand Bills of Material.</li> <li>Actively design new machine concepts for best in class solutions with customers.</li> <li>Develop proposal layouts using 2D AutoCAD or 3D Solidworks and present to customers.</li> <li>Work with engineering to determine preliminary sizing of power transmission, bearings, structural components and framing, roller deflections etc.</li> <li>Determine and propose modifications of existing machinery.</li> <li>Gather vendor quotations as needed.</li> <li>Quote customer service spare/replacement parts and service trips.</li> <li>Quote to print of single components or assemblies for complete machine solutions.</li> <li>Able to handle multiple projects at the same.</li> <li>Lead meetings and send out meeting minutes, schedules and progress updates as needed.</li> <li>Follow up on recent and older quotes to track the status and schedules of customer’s projects.</li> <li>Maintain and document activity regularly in Salesforce.com and Epicor ERP system.</li> <li>Find reference projects for estimating and use CPI calculators.</li> <li>Track and handle changes to specifications and quotes - update documentation as required.</li> <li>Ability to identify scope creep and maintain the project baseline.</li> <li>Provide assistance to and cooperate w
