Position Purpose
This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the paint shop process and equipment. The specialist shall complete operational daily checks and monitor all systems to specification. The position is responsible for recording and escalation of operational metrics to support the paint shop department to achieve business goals.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities
• Analyse and optimise paint shop equipment including powder equipment, pre-treatment washers, shotblast machines and cure systems
• Verify and report on process parameters
• Support daily operations by troubleshooting equipment issues and coordinating with maintenance and production teams.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for paint defects, corrosion risks, and process deviations.
• Implement and manage Statistical Process Control (SPC) to monitor paint process stability, identify variation trends, and drive continuous quality improvements.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and work instructions for paint-related processes.
• Assist in capital project planning, including ROI justification, equipment specification, and vendor coordination.
• Support training and onboarding of paint technicians and operators.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to improve paint system performance and reduce waste.
• Identify trends and report effectively to senior leaders
• Perform qualitative inspection of daily samples within the paint shop output
• Complete daily risk assessment
• Accountable for paint shop emissions & utility performance
• Compile daily, weekly and monthly reports
• Develop and maintain visual management boards
• Take responsibility for the physical appearance and safety of the workplace,
• Enforce Health and Safety requirements and meet objectives
• Operate and monitor a system of work that is safe to the Environment within permissible limits
• Ensure all direct activities have a relevant Standard Operating Procedure
• Actively pursue the elimination of waste through the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques
• Liaise with suppliers on quality, delivery, performance, safety and cost
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• Three years of experience in a supervisory/team leader role
• Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen methodologies.
• 3+ years of experience in paint or surface finishing environments.
• Strong understanding of powder coating systems, shot blast operations, and chemical wash processes.
• Familiarity with environmental and safety regulations related to paint operations.
• Must pass any drug screens, background checks, and any pre-employment tests, which will be conducted in accordance with applicable law.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field

• Experience with corrosion prevention and control planning
• Proficiency in CAD, process simulation, and data analysis tools
