The Stockpile Experimentation & Operations directorate is seeking a Facility Manager for the Radioactive Waste Management Complex (RWMC). The RWMC serves as a regional disposal site for low-level waste and mixed low-level waste from U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure, and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities.
Primary assignment is to manage overall operation of the RWMC nuclear facility on a day-to-day basis.
Responsible for ensuring the RWMC nuclear activities are operated in a fully compliant manner in accordance with the U.S. Department of Energy, NNSA Nevada Field Office (NNSA/NFO)-approved Documented Safety Analysis and Technical Safety Requirements.
Provide clear and concise communication regarding events in the facility and status of work.
Take immediate action to correct reported or observed unacceptable environment, safety, health, and quality conditions. Accurately report issues/events in the Occurrence Reporting and Processing System.
Provide leadership and management of MSTS programmatic and physical efforts required to perform the RWMC activities as a fully functional, cost-effective nuclear activity and safe location for waste management activities.
Establish strategic goals for the operations of the facility, identifying and evaluating trends, and evaluating outcomes.
Accomplish financial objectives by prioritizing modifications and enhancement to the facility, overseeing the implementation, and deconflicting with other construction and experiments. Prepare an annual facility budget, analyzing variances, and initiate corrective actions.
Maintain a skilled and trained base staff and matrixed support personnel who are well versed in the processes and procedures required to safely conduct work.
Provide continuous transparent and open interface with both MSTS Senior Management and NNSA/NFO personnel (e.g. Facility Representatives, Safety System Oversight, Program Leads, and Nuclear Safety) ensuring all are kept apprised of activities, operations, and issues that arise.
Provide oversight/direction to personnel who are required to maintain quality assurance, project documentation, training, work processes and performance documents, document compliance, records, and work planning/scheduling for the field exercises.
Leadership in the implementation of Conduct of Operations and Integrated Safety Management is an integral responsibility of this position, as demonstrated by presence in the field, including leadership in the areas of policy/procedural compliance.
