Carnegie Mellon University’s department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join their team.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by designing, synthesizing and characterizing multifunctional composite materials for applications in soft robotics and wearable computing and such other tasks that are assigned to you.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing independent research
  • Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment used to perform research
  • Responsible for reporting progress to project advisor, research collaborators, and
    funding sponsors
  • Responsible for documenting research accomplishments and reporting work in a peer-
    reviewed journal
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical
    Engineering, Chemistry or related disciplines
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Experience performing research on topics with soft materials engineering, printed
    electronics, soft robotics, and/or liquid metal
  • Graduate level research experience on topics related to soft materials engineering,
    printed electronics, soft robotics, and/or liquid metal
  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
