About the role

Summary 

The Medical Affairs Director, Medical Communications & Engagement is a dynamic and visionary Medical Affairs professional. This role leads the development and execution of strategic initiatives supporting expanded indications and the advancement of genomic sequencing and genetic testing. This individual will operate at the intersection of science and strategy, serving as a key partner to commercial teams, scientific experts, and healthcare providers to further the adoption of genomic sequencing.

Job Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Lead cross-functional efforts to align medical affairs strategy with company objectives for indication and product expansion 
  • Serve as a thought partner to commercial teams on strategic direction, positioning, and messaging 
  • Formulate medical claims and clear communication that reflect the clinical value of genomic sequencing and associated technology

Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Build and sustain partnerships with scientific thought leaders, healthcare professionals, and external collaborators 
  • Represent GeneDx at conferences and industry groups to elevate external visibility and scientific reputation 
  • Lead clinical advisory boards and insights-gathering initiatives 

Scientific Communication & Data Translation: 

  • Develop high-impact messaging by analyzing clinical publications, market data, and internal research 
  • Guide the integration of scientific and clinical data into educational content, presentations, and strategic publications 
  • Support the interpretation, dissemination, and responsible use of emerging scientific data in marketing and educational initiatives 

Enablement & Integration: 

  • Partner with enablement teams to align communication strategy, tools, and best practices for healthcare provider engagement 
  • Ensure seamless collaboration between medical affairs, commercial teams, and product leads 
  • Drive internal and external launch readiness across functions 

Expertise in Genomics & Rare Disease: 

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the genomics landscape, evolving disease states, and competitive activity 
  • Leverage clinical training to inform strategic planning, messaging, and commercial integration

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 6 – 8 years of experience with Master’s degree in life sciences field required 
  • Deep clinical understanding and commercial experience, ideally within genomics, rare disease, or precision medicine 
  • Proven success in cross-functional collaboration, data interpretation, and strategic communication  
  • Experience working with KOLs, attending medical conferences, and contributing to medical publications
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data for diverse audiences

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.

Work Environment 

  • Work is primarily performed in a remote office setting.
