About the role

SUMMARY 

Responsible for the development of relationships with supply partners to supply material or services which conform to the supply chain needs of the company. Works under direct supervision of Sr. Manager, Corporate Supply Management. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Responsible for identification, development and management of supply relationships that are critical to the success of Pella Corporation’s Supply Chain. 

 

As needed, serve as the Supply Chain representative for project initiatives. Provides guidance and direction to project teams.

 

Responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, equipment and services for the company. To accomplish this, deals directly with other departments within Pella Corporation to determine exactly what is needed at the lowest possible cost, consistent with Pella Corporation's quality standards.  Interviews suppliers and their representatives to get to know their products.  Then solicits quotations for new or nonstandard items and negotiates the terms of the purchase when the decision has been made to buy.  Coordinates with the other functions of Pella Corporation, keeping them posted on any changes in the circumstances of the purchase.  Will back up the Strategic Commodity Manager as necessary.

 

Responsible for understanding and informing other departments of technological changes involving products, prices, materials and markets.  Coordinates communication between suppliers and the various individuals within the company.  Assists in obtaining proper information regarding specifications, appropriate catalogs, price lists, etc. to be used by other departments in assisting them to obtain the latest information when referring to products.

 

Manages supply base through the supplier rating system to assure time, cost, and quality goals are met.

 

Responsible for meeting annual productivity goals by managing projects, in conjunction with Engineering, which reduce total material costs.  This will include, but not be limited to, price negotiations, product design changes, internal or supplier process changes, packaging designs, and logistics.

 

Responsible for supplier evaluation and selection for projects going through the tollgate process.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Bachelor’s degree in a business or a related supply chain field or the equivalent of combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS 

Word, Excel, Power Point, Oracle, and Access.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

CPM or CPSM certification preferred.
