Examples of duties

The Colorado Department of Corrections (CDOC) Faith and Citizen Program develops strategies and processes to enable facilities to provide opportunities for offender self-improvement and successful reintegration program utilizing volunteer organizations from the surrounding communities.

This position exists to manage the operation of the volunteer system for the Department of Corrections within the assigned region, including recruiting, training and supervising volunteers. Analyze, implement, monitor, and direct all volunteer program activities within assigned areas of responsibility.

Primary job duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Project leader in a specified area of the volunteer system that assures compliance of rules, laws, regulations and procedures for the Faith and Citizen Programs system that encompasses personnel ranging from Facility Volunteer Coordinators, Chaplains, Volunteers, Program Providers, Mentors, Interns and other staff;
  • Evaluate and respond to specific offender issues to tailor guidance to fit the unique circumstances while assuring security compliance;
  • Research and develop new administrative procedures to efficiently enhance program recruitment and promote receipt of donations;
  • Investigate and respond to questions relating to volunteer opportunities and programs;
  • Provide essential consultation and direction to staff and administration on procedures related to the scope of Faith and Citizen Program
