The Position
The Disease Area Partner (DAP) is a strategic leadership role within Medical Scientific Affairs (MSA), responsible for translating medical strategy into impactful action for clinicians and patients. The DAP leads cross-functional collaboration, drives execution of medical plans, and ensures excellence in scientific engagement and evidence generation.
Key Responsibilities include:
Strategic Medical Planning
Develop and maintain robust annual medical plans aligned with business strategy and global functions
Conduct situational and gap analyses to inform strategy across Engagement, Evidence, and Education (3Es)
Align cross-functional stakeholders and manage the budget for MSA-led activities
Medical Plan Execution:
Design and implement tactics addressing key stakeholder needs:
Evidence: Identify gaps and develop lifecycle evidence plans
Engagement: Lead insight-gathering activities (e.g., advisory boards), guide field plans, and foster academic collaborations
Education: Develop high-impact, scalable educational content to support external and internal stakeholders
Medical Excellence & Leadership
Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture; share best practices and learning moments
Lead department-wide initiatives (e.g., onboarding, training, culture building)
Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned disease area(s)
Co-lead the Integrated Medical Team (IMT) and support Launch Readiness Teams and Squads
Operational & Cross-Functional Excellence
Ensure compliance with all policies and documentation requirements
Conduct regular budget monitoring and reviews with MSA leadership
Act as a medical reviewer for internal and external-facing materials
Partner closely with Medical Affairs, Field Teams, Operations, and cross-functional colleagues to deliver aligned medical initiatives
Who you are:
Master's or Doctorate Degree in Science + 5 years work experience OR Medical Degree + 3 years of work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
MD with clinical experience treating patients with diabetes; healthcare professional designation preferred
3+ years in the diagnostics or pharma industry in Medical Affairs, ideally with a focus on diabetes and metabolism diseases
Strong scientific communication and strategic thinking skills
Proven ability to build relationships with healthcare professionals and thought leaders through advisory boards, evidence generation and publication activities.
Skilled in cross-functional collaboration and decision-making within a matrixed environment
Preferred Location: We prefer candidates based in Indianapolis, Indiana, who can work onsite at least 3 days per week. However, we are open to considering remote work arrangements for exceptional candidates residing elsewhere within the United States.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is $131,100.00 - $243,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
