Apply today to become a Heavy Equipment Operator with our Street Cleaning Division.  As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will operate and maintain assigned equipment, inspect equipment before use, ensure equipment repair is made and clean the beautiful streets of Savannah.

Examples of duties

• Operates and maintains heavy motorized equipment.
• Operates street sweeper and dump trucks.
• Completes route sheets and daily reports.
• Inspects equipment before use to ensure necessary repairs are made.
• Inspects job sites for possible hazards.
• Responds to customer inquiries and refers customer complaints to supervisor.
• Ensures proper equipment maintenance; performs minor repairs as necessary.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; with two (2) years of heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess and maintain a valid state Class B Commercial Driver's License.

Must be able to work  Monday - Thursday, 8:00 PM – 6:00 AM with overtime as required.

Work Location:18 Interchange Court

This is a critical workforce and safety sensitive position.

Additional Requirements
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
