GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONDevelop a highly effective team of employees and developing each employee to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. Accountable for overseeing and coordinating workflow for business lenders, underwriting, processing, and treasury management services. Responsible for balancing risk and reward of business loan credit decisions while minimizing liability to the Credit Union and consequently, directly impacting the overall financial performance of the business loan portfolio. Ensure the timely underwriting and processing of business loans within State and Federal Laws and Regulations, UCC's Regulations, and Credit Union policy and procedure without jeopardizing integrity, confidentiality, and accuracy. Execute Strategic plans to drive revenue growth and/or decrease expenses. Display functional expertise and leadership directly affecting the development of new lending policies, procedures, processes, sales techniques, and credit/deposit products. Accountable for budgeted business loan and deposit production, profitability, portfolio outstandings, as well as making decisions within existing policies as established by the Board of Directors, President/CEO, and EVP/CLO. Build a high quality sales team across a diverse geography to achieve the corporate goals of the Credit Union.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads, directs and monitors all aspects of Member Business Services (i.e. Business Loans and Treasury Management) to ensure goals and objectives are met while maximizing profitability and efficiency within the business unit. Current Member Business Loan Portfolio is over $400 million with business deposits of $150 million.
  • Responsible for staff development within the department and overall portfolio growth, delinquency, loss and compliance with rules and regulations.
  • Directs strategies for Member Business Services to support the organization's strategic plan. Guides new product development and evolving growth strategy for Member Business Services.
  • When applicable, interviews borrower for business loans at their office, in-house, and by telephone. Answers borrower's questions pertaining to their loan during entire process. Work with borrower to resolve problems and questions relating to their loan application and financial information.
  • When applicable, pre-screens loan requests for compatibility with credit union guidelines for safety and soundness. Obtains and reviews personal credit reports of guarantors, LTV ratios, disposability of collateral, and loan compliance with standards of NCUA 723 to determine feasibility of granting a loan. Interfaces with EVP/CLO to assess desirability of loans. Submits application package to Credit Analysts for underwriting.
  • When applicable, establishes and negotiates the terms of under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method and schedule and collateral requirements.
  • Oversee the implementation of loan application processes on desirable loans pursuant to credit union policies and procedures. Gathers documentation from borrower during application process including, but not limited to financial statements, tax returns, collateral descriptions and related business paperwork to facilitate underwriting process. Works with Credit Analysts to oversee the analysis of the loan and assures that appropriate due diligence is performed by designated personnel including but not limited to appraisals, surveys, flood certifications, UCC searches, title insurance and environmental reports. Maintains check lists to control loan progress through approval, closing, and perfection of security interests. Trains other credit union staff as appropriate.
  • Ensure the appropriate lending personnel reviews loan documents and covenants for accuracy prior to loan closing. Responsible for Member Business Loan closings. Assures that security interests are promptly filed and loan files are properly organized.
  • Oversees an effective business development program. Contributes directly to the growth of the Member Business Services portfolio by personally generating new business lending and deposit relationships.
  • Maintains ongoing relationships with borrowers to ensure compliance with loan covenants and financial statement requirements.
  • Inspects collateral as needed and documents borrower visits in file. Advises and assists appropriate Collections staff with loan work-outs and TDRs.
  • Ensure insurance is being tracked on all collateralized loans when applicable.
