About the role

Job Summary:

Value-based Agreements are key for Cigna's Affordable Care Act (ACA) Exchange business to drive improvements in customer access, affordability, and health equity. The Provider Performance Advisor supports operations and relationship management for select provider groups under a value-based payment agreement for Cigna's ACA business. 

Sitting within the IFP Total Cost of Care (TCC) organization, this role manages key operational needs of engaged providers and serves as a strategic partner between IFP analytics, contracting, enablement, and our provider partners. This includes coaching on how to leverage the IFP provider reporting toolkit for success, sharing best practices, interpreting and making recommendations on data and reports, and keeping up to date on programmatic opportunities.

The Provider Performance Advisor will work closely with the IFP clinical operations, contracting, market management, and risk management teams with the goal of optimizing provider performance for the IFP network and refining the go-forward strategy for how we scale the program nationally to improve health outcomes for our customers.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary liaison between the IFP segment and engaged provider partners in managing a variety of value-based contracts.
  • Plan and oversee external Joint Operating Committee (JOC) meetings with engaged provider groups every 1-3 months per group.
  • Participate in regular internal JOCs with TCC and matrix partner leadership to review performance reports and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Be the subject matter expert for engaged provider relationships and programming, including serving as the key point of contact for providers and within the segment when complex provider issues need to be addressed.
  • Gain proficiency in frequently-used provider reporting and analytics tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Excel, Tableau, and eCommerce.
  • Interface with the Analytics, Risk Adjustment, Market Management, Contracting and Clinical teams to ensure provider relationships are well-maintained and supported for optimal success.
  • Work collaboratively with segment contracting and local market teams on program expansion plans.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Health Policy or Administration, or related field, preferred
  • Five years or more of experience working with physician organizations, preferred
  • Five years or more of experience working with value-based contracts, preferred
  • Understanding of value-based reimbursement and ability to learn in-depth program details
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to accomplish multiple project objectives
  • Foundational understanding of health care informatics (i.e. PMPMs, Utilization rates, risk adjustment, evidence based or quality metrics)
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple provider relationships
  • Ability to efficiently conduct meetings and presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to identify action items and execute appropriate and timely follow-up
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written and presentation. 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel advanced functions.
  • Ability to query data preferred

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 79,200 - 132,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
