Job Summary

The Airline Ramp Service Lead Agent is responsible for overseeing ramp service operations and ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely handling of aircraft, baggage, and cargo. In addition to performing Ramp Service Agent duties, the Lead Agent supervises assigned personnel, provides training, monitors performance, and ensures compliance with safety protocols and company regulations. This role also involves reporting security concerns, assisting management in optimizing resources, and maintaining high standards of service and productivity. The position requires leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and direct the work of ramp service personnel, ensuring satisfactory quantity and quality of work.
• Perform Ramp Service Agent duties, including baggage and cargo loading/unloading, aircraft servicing, and equipment operation.
• Train and guide personnel on work procedures, safety practices, and proper equipment usage.
• Apportion and schedule work assignments, monitor staff performance and provide feedback.
• Ensure compliance with WFS site security procedures and report security breaches or suspicious activities.
• Collaborate with management to optimize the utilization of tools, equipment, and materials.
• Maintain accurate records and reports of ramp operations and employee performance.
• Uphold safety standards and enforce adherence to company policies and collective bargaining agreements.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred 2 years of experience in ramp service or ground operations.
• Proven leadership skills or experience in a supervisory role.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and airport operations.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications (e.g., airport badge, equipment operation).
• Valid driver's license.

 

**This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), a labor union that requires joining the TWU and paying union dues.** 

Preferred Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective team leadership.
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations and prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and union environments.
• Experience using ramp-related tools and equipment, including tugs, belt loaders, and deicing machines.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 lbs. regularly.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation.
• Flexible schedule, including availability for night shifts, weekends, and holidays.
• Extended periods of standing, walking, and bending while performing job duties.
• Exposure to high noise levels and bustling airport environments.
