About the role

An inclusive work environment is an empowering one. At Cutover, we lead with empathy and enable others to succeed through curiosity, kindness, and self-expression.

Location: New York City (Hybrid). This role is flexible in location, but we would like you to be able to commute to our NYC office a few times a month.

The Cutover platform interconnects teams and technologies through Collaborative Automation, enabling customers to successfully manage their IT disaster recovery, cloud migration, and release strategies. We recently raised $35 million in a Series B funding round led by Eldridge (alongside existing investors Index Ventures, Sussex Place Ventures, and Contour Ventures) and we’re thrilled to be embarking on our next chapters of growth.

We're looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to help steer the direction of one of our engineering squads, building a best in class product that our customers can’t live without.

You’ll be working hand-in-hand with engineers and product managers to understand and capture requirements around our product, collaborating with the development team to make sure the technical requirements are clear, and testing the changes and the product in general before release. We’re also really keen for you to be involved in test automation (so if you come from an automation background, we’ll be really excited).

What tech stack do we have here at Cutover?

Our Cutover platform consists of a responsive ReactJS View frontend talking to a Ruby on Rails API, hosted on AWS. Our automated testing is done using Jasmine and Jest (and RSpec for the Backend), with Cypress being used for end-to-end testing.

What will you be doing?

  • Collaborating closely with Product Managers, Software Engineers & Delivery Managers in an agile development environment
  • Defining tests: you will be defining how features will be tested
  • Testing: you will be testing new and changed features, as well as the product as a whole, both through the development cycle and once development is complete in the lead up to a release
  • Ensuring technical requirements & acceptance criteria are clear for all feature requests, and bugs before user stories are worked on by software engineers
  • Optimizing & improving current QA processes by refactoring and suggesting automation where possible, creating fast feedback loops
  • Documenting current QA processes, making recommendations, and keeping track of QA backlog

What we’d like you to bring to the table...

  • 3+ years of experience with testing and/or test automation
  • Experience writing or helping with test plans, test cases, and QA documentation
  • Strong technical proficiency with an understanding of automated testing
  • Excellent knowledge of agile software development processes, QA methodologies & best practices
  • A customer-focused mentality
  • Experience with B2B software is a plus!

The good stuff…

  • We're excited to offer Share Options as part of our compensation package.
  • 20 days of PTO per year + public holidays, and we want you to take all of them!
  • 3 volunteer days to use for any charitable/voluntary cause you would like.
  • A top-tier private health insurance package.
  • 401k contribution plan
  • Work from home stipend
  • A personal learning and development budget through Learnerbly. You’ll be supported in your quest for knowledge, whatever that looks like to you.
  • If you’re thinking of starting or growing your family, then you’ll be in great company - more than half of our team are parents and we’ve built a globally consistent parental leave approach that we’re proud of.
  • Employee Referral Scheme.
  • Safeguarding the mental health of our teams is paramount for us. If you’d like to, then you’ll be able to avail yourself of multiple Cutover mental health initiatives, from fully subsidized therapy sessions to subscriptions to leading wellbeing platforms.
  • All the company swag you could ever need.

Target compensation package: $100,000 - $120,000 + stock options + benefits.

The final offer may vary from the target compensation package, taking into consideration factors such as your experience level and skill set.  If we aren't aligned on salary at this stage, we’d still love to hear from you to better understand if there are more suitable opportunities at Cutover.
