Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered medical care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions. The PA delivers care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team, supports preventive services and patient education, and ensures timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record in compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards.


General Accountabilities

  • Provide routine medical care to an outpatient population under the supervision of a physician.
  • Obtain health information from patients and perform physical examinations to assess medical conditions.
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests, including lab tests, X-rays, and electrocardiograms, and interpret results to diagnose health issues.
  • Educate patients and families regarding medical treatments, medications, and compliance with care plans.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative care and coordinate overall patient care activities.
  • Document patient progress, treatments, and medications accurately in medical records.
  • Practice safe and healthy patient care methods.
  • Perform other duties as directed to support clinical operations.

Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of practice.
  • Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred for some specialties.
  • Completion of state board–approved programs.
  • Operation of surgical and medical equipment.
  • Use of X-ray machines and other diagnostic devices.
  • Proficiency with computers and electronic medical record systems.

Skills: Language

  • Bilingual-English/Spanish is required.

Physical Requirement

  • Physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 25 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting.  Considerable walking may be involved. The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time is required.
  • Flexibility to work in multiple locations throughout the week.
