Scope of Position: Perform all meal preparation, cleaning, and resetting of the dinning hall and operate the dish room as well as assist with preparation and distribution of camper snacks.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Hold a current Food Handlers permit, which will need to be on file in the kitchen and camp office
  • Prior food service skills preferred
  • Previous camp experience preferred

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Dining Hall & Service Duties:

  • Set and clear tables for each meal.
  • Assist with serving food during meals as requested.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the dining hall area including tables, floors, serving lines, and bathrooms.
  • Wash dishes, glasses, silverware pots, pans, and BBQ grill by hand or machine, as required.
  • Ensure the dish room is kept clean, tidy, and free of trip/slip hazards during and after the completion of dishes.
  • Assist with all inventory procedures, making certain that food removed from the stock room and freezers are properly accounted for and documented.
  • Assist with the operation of the camp canteen.
  • Assist with sweeping and mopping the kitchen and dining hall as requested.
  • Take out trash from the kitchen for pickup by the service crew.
  • Clean and wash trash cans as requested.
  • Clean any spills in the kitchen or dining hall as requested.
  • Adhere to the rotation schedule set by the Dining Hall Coordinator.
  • Help unload, move, and store supplies.

General Duties:

  • Foster and nurture Christian faith and discipleship in visible, fruitful ways to, and with campers
  • Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities.
  • Work alongside and in agreement with the Divisional Youth Leaders, other divisional officers, and special guests as directed.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and campers.
  • Encourage adherence to camp & Salvation Army policies and procedures.
  • Ensure and provide for the supervision and physical/emotional safety of campers and staff.
