About You and this Role

In this role, you will serve a the Senior M&E Project Director responsible for project execution of the $1.3B+ Growth project for Dow Industrial Solutions business located in Freeport, TX, otherwise known as the Starboard Program. This program will have 5 sub projects (ranging from $45MM to $500MM) across 4 technology areas including the Outside Block Limits (OSBL) design for the new assets.

Project management skills are key in this role as you will lead cross functional teams through all phases of project execution (Front End Loading, Design, Procurement, Construction, and Start-up). You will interface between multiple organizations both internally and externally and are expected to provide timely and effective stakeholder communications at all levels of the company and business.

Responsibilities

  • Assures implementation and use of all relevant work processes in the areas of project execution to deliver effectively against business objectives.
  • Assures appropriate sponsorship for the business opportunity by ensuring excellent project shaping in Front End Loading (FEL) and engagement through sponsor team of critical projects during execution.
  • Acts as liaison between business and key functions such as Engineering, Purchasing and Capital Planning (CPAM).
  • Serves as the leader of the project team accountable for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes.
  • Serves as a leader for program of projects to meet a business objective, as needed.
  • Develops project scope the meets the needs of the business opportunity and ensures stakeholders are aligned upon the scope through functional reviews.
  • Ensures cost estimate adequately represents project scope and managing spending within the authorized budgets and spending plans.
  • Works closely with business leadership to secure funding through the authorization process.
  • Ensures project schedule is based upon sound data and aligned with business objectives. Monitors progress closely against baseline plans.
  • Ensures EH&S plans are developed and implemented to meet EH&S goals, including construction safety.
  • Ensures plans are in place to allow for smooth transition of the project to Operations and Maintenance.
  • Works with department leaders to secure lead resources and once assigned ensures staffing plans are developed and monitored against plan.
  • Provides effective communication and coordination between the project team and key stakeholders. In doing so provide regular updates on scope, objectives/goals, cost, progress vs. plan and risks.
  • Uses and enforce project change management program including securing DOA approvals per the process.
  • Fosters a work environment with a high level of integrity and strong safety focus that embraces diversity and inclusion, innovation and sustainability, and continuous improvement and empowerment.
  • Projects requiring this level of leadership are global mega projects with significant complexity impacting both business and company strategy.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 15 years of relevant experience (i.e. engineering, manufacturing, project leadership)
  • Previous leadership experience (people or projects)
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Additional Notes

  • This position can be located in Houston or Freeport, TX (with expected travel to Freeport and Louisiana to support business need).
