As an apprentice you will experience a wide range of opportunities during our 12-week summer apprenticeship program. We are looking for candidates who have an interest in the financial services industry and bring with them enthusiasm and passion for working in a fast-paced, growth-centric environment.  

Each apprentice will be paired with a manager, mentor, and executive sponsor for the summer and will present a summer project at the end of the program. Apprentices are given opportunities to interact with senior leadership, learn about our various areas of business, and network with peers and staff.  During the apprenticeship, you will develop basic business acumen and engage with virtually all aspects of our business.

The Financial Analyst is responsible for the input of information for accounting validation, setup, testing and implementation into the infrastructure for SAP general ledger system and Empower’s proprietary recordkeeping system. This position will also assist in compiling data for Corporate Finance, Regulators, Auditors and Valuation departments using reconciled financial data with concrete quarterly deadlines.

What you will do

  • Gather information from various systems to compile data for Corporate Finance
  • Review and resolve daily system error reports for all seven databases
  • Run and analyze basic SQL queries using pre-determined criteria with existing SQL commands
  • Assist with updates, validation and maintaining financial accounting systems including exporting and importing of files into databases
  • Compile data, document findings and simple business requirements for accounting analysis and process flow
  • Research, financial review on business processes and systems in DEVL and UAT
  • Basic reconciliation and basic statutory reporting of all funds and products
  • Prepare and provide established queries for various financial data and information for many teams internally
  • Maintain procedures and documentation, reflecting structure and intended use
  • Collaborate with external departments with some supervision and oversight

What you will bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Accounting, Business, related field, or equivalent data mining/accounting system experience
  • Excellent proactive communication skills with ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Intermediate MS Office experience
