Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking an experienced Systems/ Network Administrator to support our NASA customer based in FL at the the Kennedy Uplink Station (KUS), and the Ponce De Leon (PDL) facilities located in New Smyrna Beach. This position will be primarily based at the Ponce De Leon (PDL) facilities in New Smyrna Beach (roughly 60%), and will alternate with the Kennedy Uplink Station (KUS) (roughly 40%) located at the Kennedy Space Center on Robert H. Goddard Road.
As prime contractor on the Peraton Space Exploration Networks Services and Evolution (SENSE) contract, Peraton is responsible for the operation, maintenance, sustainment, and systems engineering of NASA’s worldwide satellite communication networks. In this position, you will become part of NASA’s return to the moon, support new earth and space science missions, and launch vehicles. You will be an integral part of a world class team that ensures NASA space-ground communications are reliable and meet mission requirements.
Operating here are numerous satellite ground terminals which ensure uninterrupted communications between various ground stations, NASA’s orbiting fleet of Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS), customer spacecraft (satellites), and the computer systems that support such spacecraft. NASA's facilities serve as an interface for distributing satellite data to control centers and scientists who then use the daily influx of data to expand our ever-growing knowledge of the Earth and the universe.
In this position, your responsibilities as a Network Administrator will include the following:
- Assist in the design, development, and creation of Windows and Network Solutions systems
- Support Windows and RH Linux Systems.
- Utilize networking tools such as Wireshark, Iperf, SolarWinds and Netstat
- Maintain Routing tables in Cisco equipment.
- Assist with design, implementation, and maintenance of Networking equipment and support systems.
- Maintain MS Active Directory implementation across established domain boundaries.
- Assist IT Security Team with mitigating vulnerabilities of these systems to demonstrate NIST 800-53 compliance.
- Establish and maintain a patching regimen across all systems.
- Perform account management and create and perform disaster recovery solutions.
- Collaborate with technical engineering teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate system and network anomalies.
- Develop technical products and reports visible to various groups and levels of leadership.
- Support regular audits and assessments and demonstrate system compliance and risk mitigation to assessors.
- Working with BigFix, Nessus Scanners, and Splunk
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or other related technical discipline and 5+ years of related technical experience in Information Security, Network Engineering and/or IT infrastructure; without a degree, 9+ years of related experience may be considered
- 3+ years of experience in Microsoft Windows administration, including Active Directory management and RH Linux administration
- Understanding of fundamental security and network concepts (intrusion detection, TCP/IP, SSL, ports, switching, routing, etc.)
- Understanding of networking principles and experience with networking tools such as Wireshark, Iperf, SolarWinds and Netstat
- Working experience with BigFix, Nessus Scanners, and Splunk
- 3+ years of PowerShell or any other scripting language experience (professional use for automation strongly preferred)
- Understanding Virtual Machines and the systems they run on
- Position requires ability to obtain a government Secret security clearance, which requires US citizenship
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with VMWare and ESXI
- Experience with RH Linux and Cisco Networking equipment
- Experience configuring Firewalls and Routers
- Experience with embedded systems
- Familiarity with building or maintaining satellite ground systems
- Ability to create/fabricate and lay network cabling
- Ability to work well individually and in a team environment
- Strong communication skills
