PURPOSE:
Assist the Driver with loading and unloading products by hand or using hand trucks to the job site(s) as scheduled by the dispatcher. Ensures the vehicle is always clean. Performs all duties in a safe and productive manner. Other duties assigned by the dispatcher.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists the Driver with deliveries of materials to job sites as assigned and communicates with customers, employees, and supervisors.
- Assists the Driver with identifying potential hazards, obstacles, and personnel they may not otherwise see.
- Aids the Driver with backing a truck up when blind spots are present.
- Verifies product, quality, and counts of loads.
- Organize and secures loads.
- Assist in keeping yard, warehouse, and vehicle neat and clean.
- Completes safety pre-check daily equipment inspections.
- Follow all operational procedures regarding invoicing, credits, inspection reports, and delivery tickets.
- Assists with unloading materials of returned items for credits.
- Reports any vehicle and/or property damage to the dispatcher immediately.
- Ensures that all safety policies and procedures are followed.
OTHER JOB DUTIES:
- Attends all required training and monthly safety meetings.
- Actively participates in the morning huddle meetings.
- All other duties – Perform all other duties as assigned including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks.
Qualifications
COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to remain focused and calm.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to convey information in a prompt clear manner.
- Understanding and utilization of proper hand signals with the Driver.
- Must be able to work outside year-round.
- 100% Local travel within the Northeast.
- Basic mechanical knowledge.
- Working Knowledge of Journey Aware
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Frequently lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls materials. 50-85 pounds is commonplace.
- Exposed to inclement weather while working outside of the truck.
- Sometimes deal with sounds or noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
- Work close to others, especially when unloading trucks.
- Wears proper safety attire.
