Certified Paramedic - Clinical Technician Partner (CTP)

What are the duties of the Clinical Technician Partner? The Clinical Technician Partner will be responsible for overseeing our EMTs (internally Medical Technician Partners) and provide in-home care to our patients. The day-to-day responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

  • Drive post discharge workflows for patients discharged home from ED or admission to ensure they are medically safe and have proper follow up plan in place. This includes managing the discharge census, working cross functionally with operations to schedule patients, outbound calls to patients, and rounding with the clinical team on patient needs.  
  • Real time response to patients who are signaling that they need additional care, either through remote patient monitoring devices or daily questionnaires, by providing telephonic and virtual support.  
  • Manage day-to-day operations for Medical Technician Partners (MTP) from 4 clinics and lead MTPs in clinical skill development 
  • Oversee in-home care for Gather Health 
  • Work for operational improvement work aimed at improving quality, cost, and patient experience 
  • Partner with Clinical Operations in providing quality care to vulnerable patient population 
  • On an as needed basis, provide direct care to Gather Health patients through in-home visits 
  • Supervises Medical Technician Partners (EMT-trained) through Boston area 

What are the requirements for this position?

  • Certified Paramedic – Nationally Certified Paramedic (i.e. EMT-P or NRP)  
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working as a paramedic, community paramedicine a plus   
  • At least 1 year experience as a paramedic supervisor or leader  
  • No restrictions or limitations to driving a company vehicle within Massachusetts  
  • Current ACLS certification, ATLS certification a plus  
  • Training in de-escalation, management of aggressive behavior, or similar 

What are the preferred skills or experience?

  • Management of urgent/acute and chronic conditions in medically complex patients, with medical backup supervision as needed 
  • Clinical skills education of EMTs and paramedics 
  • Medical history taking, including general and condition-specific questions 
  • Patient counseling and education regarding treatment plans and contingencies 
  • Physical examination of patients, including general and condition-specific examinations 
  • Phlebotomy, IV fluid/medication administration, nebulizer treatments, basic wound care, basic urinary catheter care, point-of-care urine and respiratory testing, collection of clinical specimens for laboratory testing 
  • Use of EHR for documentation 
  • Use of Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and Excel 

What are additional qualifications that would help the ideal candidate most likely to succeed?

  • A passion for delivering white-glove service to vulnerable populations 
  • Experience caring for seniors, many of whom are underserved 
  • Curiosity and a desire to learn and grow 
  • Comfort with a dynamic schedule that may involve a mix of remote, office, and field work 
  • Experience in a startup  
  • Experience working with primary care providers 

What are the physical requirements for the role?

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, and sit for extended periods  
  • Ability to reach, feel, talk, and hear  
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds 
  • Ability to handle and manipulate objects with hands – holding, grasping, and controlling 
  • Ability to perform tasks under emergency conditions that require strenuous exertion  
  • Ability to work in situations involving death, emotional stress, and with patients with contagious diseases
