Position Summary:
The Director of Commercial AOS will assist in the scale of AdaptHealth Operating System to deliver both commercial process rigor and commercial impact. This role embeds Lean principles and continuous improvement into sales, commercial enablement, managed care, and business development functions—ensuring every process enhancement drives measurable revenue growth, margin expansion, and elevated customer value. As a strategic advisor to the commercial leadership team, the Director AOS will link Core Value Drivers and Policy Deployment to top-line performance, shaping a culture where kaizen and data-driven decision-making fuel sustainable commercial results.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Develop aOS thinking and skill sets across the Commercial Leaders (sales, commercial enablement, managed care and business development) to drive revenue-focused improvements.
- Embed Lean tools— Standard Work, Daily Management, Kaizen—in go-to-market processes (referral generation, order conversion, payor contracting) to eliminate waste and accelerate cycle times.
- Design and facilitate Kaizen events with clear commercial objectives (e.g., sustainable referral volumes, selling time/admin burden reduction, sales conversion rate improvement), ensuring rigorous follow-through and sustainment.
- Develop and deliver training programs that build commercial acumen alongside continuous improvement capabilities, empowering associates at all levels to identify revenue-generating opportunities.
- Establish and govern a set of commercial excellence metrics—revenue growth, margin management, customer lifetime value, Net Promoter Score, churn rate—and report progress to senior leadership.
- Serve as a trusted advisor on aOS maturity, diagnosing gaps in commercial execution and prescribing targeted CI roadmaps that align with strategic initiatives.
- Foster a community of accountability and innovation, championing cross-functional kaizen and problem-solving rituals that drive engagement and unlock new revenue streams.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
- Develop and maintain working knowledge of current products and services offered by the company.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA.
- Complete assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.
- Maintain compliance with AdaptHealth’s Compliance Program
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Competency, Skills, and Abilities:
- Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Strong leadership abilities with experience managing high-performing teams.
- Demonstrated success integrating Lean CI methodologies into Sales, Marketing, Commercial Enablement, or Pricing operations.
- Strong financial acumen: advanced business-case development (ROIC, IRR, NPV), and budget management.
- Proven ability to translate strategic priorities into operational roadmaps that directly move commercial KPIs.
- Exceptional leadership and influencing skills, with a track record of mobilizing matrixed teams and senior stakeholders.
- Firsthand experience in commercial roles (sales operations, product management, customer success) coupled with continuous improvement expertise.
- Deep proficiency in Lean tools (Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Kaizen) applied in a revenue-centric context.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Finance, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; MBA or master’s preferred.
- 7+ years leading commercial or operational excellence transformations that delivered quantifiable revenue and margin gains.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work environment will be stressful at times, as overall office activities and work levels fluctuate.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, stretch, stand, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Subject to long periods of sitting and exposure to computer screen.
- Ability to perform repetitive motions of wrists, hands, and/or fingers due to extensive computer use.
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds as needed.
- Excellent ability to communicate both verbally and in writing.
- May be exposed to angry or irate customers or patients.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with internal and external customers with the ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, courtesy, and respect for privacy.
- May require travel as needed to meet with potential partners, clients, or acquisition targets.
