Position Summary
The Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for modeling the Compassus values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation and for promoting the Compassus philosophy, using the 6 Pillars of Success as the foundation. The Senior Director of Financial Planning and Analysis is responsible for the overall evaluation of current and proposed financial plans and policies as they relate to the organization's profitability goals. S/he is responsible for directing, leading, and coordinating the budget function.
Position Specific Responsibilities
- Works in conjunction with Finance executives and team members on the development and delivery of the organization's home health operations budget, monitoring of each division’s operational performance, forecast to budget, and the review of Region/Program P&L performance.
- Develops and implements Region/Program operational plans designed to impact performance trends favorably. Analyzes and identifies opportunities to increase operational efficiencies tied to cost-control/improved bottom-line performance and standardizes best practices across the organization.
- Supports Finance executives and team members in building long-term strategic operations plans to drive operational excellence. Balances Region resources to ensure effective implementation and execution of key initiatives, tracks and reports performance/progress to Regional/Area Vice Presidents.
- Analyzes individual and team performance against key performance indicators, metrics, and rankings.
- Responds to labor and productivity/utilization performance deficiencies and provides coaching/mentoring to ensure Growth and Operation leaders completely understand the organization's labor model.
- Provides day-to-day leadership and direction of all assigned business functions, such as operations, financial performance, advertising and marketing, communications, clinical services, quality improvement, and others when appropriate.
- Evaluates ongoing operational performance criteria in real time and oversee the execution of organization initiatives designed to ensure operations are on-track with established goals and objectives.
- Ensures all programs that require state reporting are in compliance with state guidelines and submitted in a timely manner.
- Provides interpretation of financial policies, governmental legislation, financial modeling theory, and customer financial regulations.
- Coordinates with all levels of management to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare recommendations regarding financial plans, acquisition activity, new business planning, trended future requirements, government requirements, and operating forecasts.
- Participates in the evaluation of proposed acquisitions and divestitures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Master's in Business Administration (MBA) or a Master's degree in Finance preferred.
- Ten (10) or more years of experience in financial planning and analysis or related experience highly preferred.
- Three (3) or more years in a leadership role preferred.
- Experience in a health care setting preferred.
Skills
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, colleagues, investors, and external parties. Strong written and verbal communications.
- Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand, read, write, and speak English. Articulates and embraces hospice philosophy.
Physical Demands and Work Environment: The demands of this role necessitate a team member to effectively perform essential functions.
