Description

POSITION: Bilingual Staff Trainer- Unaccompanied Minors Program 
REPORTS TO: Prevention of Sexual Abuse Compliance Manager 
CLASSIFICATION: Full Time         
EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt (salaried)

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Safe Haven for Children Program serves young persons in immigration custody who are awaiting release to their sponsors.  This is a 24-hour program.  The Staff Trainer will be responsible for training staff on local, state, and federal regulations and policies as they relate to the unaccompanied minors program administered by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (“ORR”). The Staff Trainer will monitor staff compliance with programmatic training requirements.

The Bilingual Staff Trainer is classified as an essential worker, and as such, accepts responsibility for the completion of their critical services to clients, on site, even during times of emergency. These include, but are not limited to, emergencies caused by weather, nationwide pandemics, civil unrest, and domestic threat.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
•    Conduct trainings and orientation sessions for new hires for Safe Haven.
•    Assist the PSA Compliance Manager in conducting the PSASH training to staff.
•    Conduct Therapeutic Crisis Intervention trainings.
•    Provide management team with feedback on the progress of newly hired staff.
•    Create and implement training curriculum for Safe Haven staff as required by ORR, OCFS, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
•    Create and maintain PowerPoint presentations for trainings; convert current PowerPoint trainings into voice recorded trainings.
•    Ensures compliance with Cooperative Agreement between ORR and LSSNY.
•    Research material for trainings.
•    Regularly enter all required information, data, etc., into program systems/ case files as required by program policies and procedures.
•    Ensure compliance with local, state, and Federal rules and regulations, including but not limited to HIPAA.
•    Ensure that all background clearances are conducted (i.e.: State Central Registry (SCR), Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), etc.).
•    Process and monitor receipt of required certification and recertification documents. 
•    Create and maintain a system for staff training records. Send reminders to staff as needed to ensure training requirements are met on time.  
•    Attend required meetings and trainings (Administration for Children Services (ACS), Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR), etc.).
•    Ensure quality of training being provided to Foster Parents by Foster Parent Trainers; participate in Foster Parent trainings as needed.  
•    Collaborate with overseeing and accrediting entities (OCFS, ORR, CARF, ICF) during audits and monitoring visits reviewing staff’s records as required. 
•    Perform other duties as required by direct supervisor or needs of the program/agency.

Qualifications

SUPERVISES: 
•    Contractors, Volunteers, and Interns as needed. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 
•    Bachelor’s degree. 
•    Relevant experience preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•    Strong communication and writing skills (in English and Spanish)
•    Ability to work collaboratively with consumers and co-workers
•    Knowledgeable working with immigrant youth and children and families at risk
•    Ability to manage time effectively, multi-task and determine priorities
•    High degree of organization and attention to detail
•    Ability to work independently and as part of a team
•    Resourceful/Solution-focused
•    Ability to work flexible hours as needed, including occasional weekends. 
•    Fluency in Spanish preferred but not required.
•    Experience and facility with Microsoft Office Applications
