Job Description
METALS/PROCESS engineer 2
Responsible for development of the entire system concept, and independently coordinates tasks to generate new plant process designs, improve existing designs with the support of other Company disciplines, and marches the project through the engineering process. Contributes to the proposal process and provides the equipment specifications and pricing for the design, development, and utilization of specific technology for the application. The Metals/Process Engineer II is responsible for the full integration of project engineering resources for mechanical, process, CSA, electrical, and controls.
Essential job functions:
- Follows the design deliverable standard processes for the development of PFD’s, process control descriptions, and interacts with the controls system integration team to complete a total process design.
- Conduct and/or supervise all engineering analyses to ensure the system being designed will satisfy requirements.
- Leads the basis of design meeting for finalizing and documenting the product concept, leads the equipment performance requirements specification, and communicates appropriately with multi-disciplined engineering team.
- Develops the standard of care for all calculations, safety factors, equipment selection, and is responsible for specifying overall equipment performance.
- Handle large or multiple projects of a complex nature simultaneously that may cross several disciplines.
- Originate innovative solutions to deal with specification requirements and cost reduction.
- Organize work load to complete all activity within schedule and budget.
- Provides technical inspiration, leadership and consultation to professional co-workers.
- Effectively ensure that all work tasks are defined optimally in what is required and when it is to be completed to subordinates and peers as applicable.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of IPS standards and processes.
- Communicate and document effectively with engineering, outside contacts, customers, and other departments.
- Leads emerging Metals process technology development.
- Adheres to the policies and standards set forth in the Firm’s Quality Management System.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates Degree with 10+ years of relevant industrial experience in some of the following areas: Shredding, Separating, Delacquering, Melting, Casting, Rolling, Extruding, and Smelting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or Metallurgy and
- 5 + years relevance experience in some of the following areas: Shredding, Separating, Delacquering, Melting, Casting, Rolling, Extruding, and Smelting.
- FE/PE Preferred
- 8 years minimum experience in Metals Equipment and/or contract manufacturing.
Anticipated Skills and Abilities:
- Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Advanced knowledge in combustion technology, burner selection, emission requirements
- Advanced knowledge in NFPA 86 and 484 requirements
- Formal Training in Burner/Combustion preferred
- Formal Project Management Training preferred
- Presenter at industry trade shows
- Advanced Knowledge of Revit Software preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
