POSITION: Area Director of Teen Services
LOCATION: Mission Support Office
REPORTS TO: Director of Youth & Family Services
DEPARTMENT: Mission Support – Youth & Family Services (YFS)
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The Area Director of Teen Services will play a critical role in helping Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington (BGCSW) achieve its vision to provide high-quality services. The Area Director of Teen Services will be responsible for a variety of significant activities, including internal operations, oversight and leadership of Teen Clubs and targeted programs, supervision and development of staff, and program evaluation.
LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT, & ACCOUNTABILITY
- Model and uphold the BGCSW’s Core Values and Club Code.
- Lead a supportive, energetic, and effective team to achieve annual program performance and engagement goals.
- Hire, train, support, supervise, and evaluate Teen Services Club Directors.
- Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for direct reports and Club staff.
- Prepare and deliver data summary reports and evaluations to organizational leadership and the board of directors, as appropriate.
- Engage in continuous programming and Club evaluation informed by data.
- Collaborate with the Grants Manager on narrative and summary reports related to grant funding.
- Manage Club budgets, partner with the Finance & Administration Department in the budgeting process, and monitor year-to-date variances in operational revenue, staffing, and program expenditures.
- Partner with the Director of Safety & Operations to ensure youth safety policies and Club facilities are upheld.
- Collaborate with the Director of Safety & Operations, the Director of Youth & Family Services, and Behavioral Support Specialists on high-level Incident Reports regarding Teen Services.
- Collaborate with the Director of Youth & Family Services and Behavioral Support Specialists to develop Success Plans for Teen Services.
- Support Club Directors in managing their Clubs, including supply needs.
- Participate in evening and weekend events and field trips as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to achieve program goals.
COLLEGE & CAREER READINESS
- Lead the design and implementation of programs aligned with BGCSW Life & Workforce Readiness.
- Manage records of College & Career Prep and Penguin Promise activities and programs.
- Oversee and maintain Life & Workforce Readiness partners such as Clark College.
- Collaborate with College & Career Prep Mentors to recruit and retain youth who may be limited in the opportunity to participate in college prep.
- Provide coaching and training to Club Directors and College & Career Prep Mentors related to Teen engagement and Life & Workforce Readiness.
- Increase awareness of college as an option and foster a higher education and ongoing learning environment within Clubs.
- Increase awareness of various career opportunities and help youth assess skills and interests.
- Increase and maintain awareness of BGCSW College & Career Prep services via outreach to local businesses, trade schools, and colleges/universities.
PROGRAMMING IN PRIORITY OUTCOME AREAS
- Train and coach direct reports in the design and implementation of programs aligned with our priority outcome areas of Character & Leadership, Health and Wellbeing, Academic Success, and Workforce Readiness.
- Train and coach Teen Services staff to integrate strength-based and restorative engagement strategies into the Club environment (e.g., Zones of Regulation, calming spaces, PAX Tools, etc.), utilizing BGCA and locally developed resources.
- Collaborate with teammates and staff members to learn and incorporate behavior supports, self-regulation, coping strategies, and social skills into programming across Clubs.
