Job Description:

Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.

We are hiring for one full-time, permanent position located in Pendleton, Oregon

What you will do:

In this position, you will provide support to the John Day Watershed and the East Region.  These duties include:

  • Assisting with wildlife area maintenance duties

  • Using farm equipment to farm wildlife food plots

  • Mechanical vegetation management

  • Equipment maintenance

  • Parking lot maintenance

  • Checking hunters

  • Surveys for big game and game birds

This position requires occasional use of a firearm, ATV Safety Education Card, and a Public Pesticide Applicator License (PPAL). If the successful candidate does not currently have their ATV Safety Card or PPAL, they will need to be able to obtain both within 6 months of hire.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, all applicants must meet one of the following options:

  • Option 1: Eighteen months of experience in the care of livestock, agricultural research and experimentation, monitoring game or wildlife, or farming. (Six months of fisheries or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience)

  • Option 2: An Associate's degree in Wildlife Technology or Agriculture

Equivalency Notes:

A higher level degree in Wildlife Science, Agriculture, or a closely-related degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework will substitute for the Associate’s degree.
