Martin South Hospital’s Emergency Department has multi-disciplinary care teams and leading-edge technology needed to diagnose and treat patients efficiently and effectively, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As an Assistant Nurse Manager in the Emergency Department, you will provide clinical supervision and unit coordination to the ED. With an emphasis on professional development and success, you will encourage caregivers to enhance their skills and the patient experience through improvement initiatives and incentives. 30% of your day will consist of administrative tasks such as staff scheduling, training, Kronos, and coordinating with providers for throughput, discharge information, and room availability, while the other 70% will consist of hands-on patient care. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care. A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 7:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations.
Provide effective and efficient patient care to all ages on assigned shifts or as otherwise designated.
Facilitate communication and collaboration among unit caregivers and other departments/units.
Ensure continuity of patient care information between shifts.
Coordinate patient admitting, discharges, transfers and other operational issues.
Review major operational patient care issues with Nurse Managers.
Provide ongoing clinical evaluations of caregivers, counsel caregivers on performance issues, administer initial corrective actions and monitor attendance issues.
Interview, select and orient new caregivers.
Monitor the adherence to EEO/AAP goals and guidelines.
Prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage on all shifts.
