Responsibilities
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Chiller Service Technician. This position will be responsible for performing chiller inspections and maintenance. An ideal candidate will be customer service oriented and work well with others. Position requires a high level of correspondence with Project Managers, Service Coordinators and customers.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine, and unscheduled, maintenance and repair of industrial mechanical systems including air cooled chillers, centrifugal chillers, pumps, cooling towers, air handler units, valves, fan coil units, variable air volume systems, etc.
- Diagnose and repair of machine and equipment defects including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components related to these systems. Also includes diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, calibrate system to manufacturer’s recommendations, and explain fully to customer what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
- Oversee installation and operation of various mechanical systems.
- Lead role in defining and developing the training, materials, and tools needed to support our chiller/HVAC maintenance business.
- Be available to work some nights or weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers.
- Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis. Proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment shall always be maintained in the vehicle.
- Maintain all relevant documentation related to all services and tasks performed, including make, model, serial number, necessary test measurements, and pictures, as necessary.
- Provide detailed, complete, and timely paperwork as required.
- Identify and report to supervisor/manager potential business, including site visits, conference calls with subcontractors and cost estimation.
- Provides updates to communicate to dispatch, parts procurement, supervisors, and managers, as needed, to keep company and customers informed about work progressions.
- Scheduling and coordinating services with the customer.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The Required Profile
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have valid driver’s license with good driving record
- Must have current HVAC certification and OSHA 10 Training plus
- Previous experience of 5+ years in chiller/HVAC maintenance, mechanical engineering, or other related fields.
- Familiarity with manufacturing designs or schematics.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask.
- Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to train junior technicians.
- Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations.
- Ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time.
- Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software and working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
- Electrical knowledge required and EPA Certification Preferred (i.e. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.)
