Networking & Cybersecurity (Professional and Continuing Education) (Tenure Track Faculty)
Job Summary
The Evergreen State College seeks a broadly trained regular* faculty member eager to develop innovative curriculum in cybersecurity, networking, and computing infrastructure at an experimental liberal arts college. We are particularly interested in candidates who are excited to explore the unique possibilities that networking, cybersecurity, systems administration, and computing infrastructure offer for problem solving, critical thinking, and digital citizenship within an interdisciplinary, team-taught curriculum.
We are seeking a practitioner-to-educator whose professional experience has been built in network administration, IT systems, cybersecurity operations, or related infrastructure fields and who is motivated to prepare the next generation of technology professionals. Core teaching responsibilities include IT foundations, networking concepts and protocols, network administration, systems administration, and the bridge into cybersecurity practice. This is not a programming or software engineering position; rather, it focuses on the infrastructure that enables modern computing systems to function securely, reliably, and at scale. Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Security+, CCNA, or equivalent, together with significant professional experience are valued alongside or in place of a traditional academic profile.
The successful candidate will help design and teach courses that contribute to certificate programs as well as degree completion pathways for returning adult students. The faculty member will also serve as the coordinator of the College’s Cybersecurity Certificate, providing academic leadership for the program, supporting curriculum development and continuous improvement, advising students, and ensuring the certificate remains aligned with current industry practices and workforce needs.
We are interested in candidates who have experience or interest in using innovative pedagogy to engage students in developing their conceptual understanding of computation. We strongly encourage applicants who have had experience teaching and/or working with students from underserved populations. We are eager to increase our capacity to create inclusive classrooms that support diverse learners in computational thinking and computer science.
Each applicant should submit a cover letter that explicitly addresses the various components of this position description. Successful applicants will give attention to the ways in which they meet each of the Minimum Qualifications and any of the Preferred Qualifications.
Regular is equivalent to tenure-track at other colleges. A complete description of the continuing contract and conversion process can be found in the Collective Bargaining Agreement, article 11.

Classes may be offered fully online, in-person, or in low residency/hybrid formats (with both remote and in-person elements). Synchronous in-person and online instruction takes place during evening or weekend hours. In the first year of the contract, faculty will have partial release from teaching to help with the design and development of new certificates and curriculum in the school for Professional and Continuing education.
