The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Looking for a Mechanical Engineer to help NASA launch the most powerful rocket ever built in the pursuit of the return to the Moon and Mars missions.
Engineering discipline shall be Mechanical/Hypers related and primarily pertains to operating and maintaining systems, and developing system subject matter expert knowledge. Responsibilities include system analysis; developing plans, processes, and procedures; documentation preparation for spacecraft processing.
Responsibilities
• Candidate will support the COMETs Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering, and Test (COMET) contract Spaceflight Processing Directorate within the Hypers Engineering department. Performing engineering in support of spacecraft processing for the NASA Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV) and the NASA Launch Services Program (LSP) spacecraft.
• Initial assignments will focus on developing an understanding of Hypers ground support equipment. (GSE) Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting non-conformances and problem resolution.
• Assignments will include preparing GSE for maintenance and hypergolic servicing operations.
• Candidates will be required to develop and apply knowledge of technical principles for Orion MPCV and LSP processing operations. Develop an
understanding of ground to vehicle interfaces, vehicle/ground system design and operation.
• Additional responsibilities in spacecraft processing include; Procedural development, test requirements, system training and task leader certification.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution
May be filled at a higher lever based on qualifications
• Must have the ability to successfully interface with customer Engineers and test Team representatives as well as manage completion of tasks on schedule to customer satisfaction.
• Ability to read schematics, drawings, and specifications as well as interpret and communicate to the Test Team.
• Ability to write detailed technical work instructions for Execution. Previous experience with manufacturing, integration, or ground processing a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proficient in report writing as well as technical presentations.
