What team will you be on?

BlackRock’s Financing & Financial Resource Management (‘F&FRM’) team sits within BlackRock Global Markets & Index Investments (‘BGM’) which works to advance our investment processes and platform architecture, and ensure we most efficiently engage with other market participants in a collaborative, strategic way. BGM includes Index Investments, Global Trading, Securities Lending, Liquidity, and Financing & Financial Resource Management.

Through cutting edge technology, quantitative techniques, sophisticated models and embedded research, our investment management approach provides superior performance for our clients and is an important part of the BlackRock brand. The Financing & Financial Resource Management (‘F&FRM’) team supports the firm’s levered and alternative products through active oversight across prime brokerage, derivatives and other related financing strategies; managing the cost of borrowing and overall portfolio financing. F&FRM team enables access to capacity for BlackRock’s Investment platform through optimization of dealer risk capital and balance sheet resources. F&FRM is significantly involved in activities such as equity and fixed income financing, Futures Clearing, PB and FCM relationship management, counterparty and liquidity risk management, and trading/financing documentation reviews. BlackRock is seeking an Associate-level candidate.

What will you be doing?

  • Develop financial resource analytics enabling transparency, efficiency, and optimization across products and counterparties

  • Continuously build upon and improve scalable, systematized processes that enable efficient oversight of financing activities

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop a thorough understanding of market dynamics and BLK positioning, providing timely commentary to support FRM decision making

  • Partake in the review of structural solutions, aimed at increasing capacity to support growth, through impact analysis & coordination with stakeholders, while continuously automating analysis where feasible

  • Help build out financial modeling capabilities for BlackRock’s resource consumption, integrating capital and liquidity regulations, as well as tracking & modeling banking partners key metrics to better understand their constraints

  • Stay abreast of all the latest news that may impact our ability to source capacity from dealers (e.g., regulatory changes, bank restructuring) and provide high level summary to the team

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed generative AI capabilities into existing workflows

  • Perform analysis of large data sets comprising of market data, trading data and derived analytics

  • Research, document, and test emerging technology with a focus on revenue generation, productivity enhancement, scale enablement, and risk mitigation potential

  • Work with multiple investment teams to source financing liquidity across a broad array of investment strategies

  • Represent BlackRock’s interests in frequent interaction with Financing counterparties.

  • Monitor and negotiate financing rates across multiple counterparties ensuring optimal rates for the lifecycle of trades

  • Exhibit detailed product knowledge of financing, equities, equity swaps, convertible bonds, fixed income, repo, futures, and other instruments

  • Understanding how to optimize different trading strategies by looking at portfolio financing, cash management, margin optimization, yield enhancement, corporate action optimization and tax implications

What are we looking for?

  • Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL required, VBA and Git experience (Aladdin knowledge preferred)

  • 2+ years of experience in a technical or finance function

  • Strong interest in financial markets

  • Proven track record in designing, building, and implementing models and platforms; developing strategies using automated, statistical and machine learning techniques

  • Ability to be a self-starter, work independently and proven record in problem solving

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, be able to manage and prioritize a wide variety of concurrent and competing projects

  • Ability to communicate well and work collaboratively with a global team across multiple time zones

  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills

  • Educated to degree level at a minimum in Mathematics, Engineering, Statistics, Finance or related discipline(s)
