Tewksbury Hospital, part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dynamic Occupational Therapist II who is committed to transforming lives through exceptional Occupational Therapy services. This role is essential in supporting young adult to elderly patient populations, focusing on rehabilitation for individuals with psychological and physical disabilities. Please Note: This position works 40 hours per week, days, with Saturday and Sunday off.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
· Supervise and mentor Occupational Therapy (O.T.) staff, students, and interns to ensure the delivery of high-quality services, including conducting competency reviews and providing on-the-job training.
· Evaluate the needs of young adult to elderly patients, utilizing diagnostic tests and functional outcome measures to guide therapeutic interventions.
· Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with Occupational Therapy standards of practice to achieve patient-specific goals.
· Prepare detailed reports to assess the effectiveness of Occupational Therapy treatments and provide insights into patient progress.
· Maintain accurate records, provide technical guidance, attend professional meetings, and stay current with advancements in Occupational Therapy practices.
· Oversee inventory management, including monitoring supply levels, recommending equipment purchases, and ensuring the upkeep of therapy tools and resources.
· Review and approve treatment plans prepared by subordinates, ensuring alignment with established standards and patient needs.
· Participate in the hiring process, including interviewing candidates and making recommendations for employment decisions such as hiring, promotion, and disciplinary actions.
· Conduct regular performance evaluations for staff, offering constructive feedback and fostering professional growth in alignment with organizational policies.
· Recommend and implement policies, procedures, and standards to enhance unit operations and ensure compliance with agency guidelines.
