Overview of this Position:

The SR. Inventory Control Specialist has the primary responsibility to establish and maintain a maintenance spare parts system, set up and manage storage location(s), track, and control inventory levels, verify the parts elements of bills of material (BOM) associated with assets in the CMMS system, and establish reliability-based systems and procedures for maintenance inventory, purchasing, and storerooms.


Non-Negotiable Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline and 1+year work experience in an FDA regulated environment.
  • May consider other candidates with a strong work history and directly relevant experience and solid references. 
  • Inventory control, procurement, stocking, storeroom experience and a working knowledge of best practices.
  • CMMS/EAM/ERP experience.
  • Must be an excellent and authentic communicator.
  • Must possess great attention to detail and be an active and attentive listener.
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Oversee Facilities Engineering & Maintenance inventory and work with supply chain management according to company guidelines to ensure parts and supplies are available when needed.
  • Perform critical inventory tasks to ensure the correct parts are in inventory and the correct number of items are in stock.
  • Maintain updated and accurate records of all parts and inventory in eMaint, including transfers and cycle counts.
  • Ensure that materials in the storeroom are safely stored, inspected, and cared for through general material handling and warehousing principles, effective utilization of preventive maintenance and shelf-life programs.
  • Execute inventory cycle counts, and physical inventories as required.
  • Help hire, train, develop, and retain a strong MRO Inventory and Storeroom team to perform all related functions effectively and efficiently.
  • Serve as an inventory, purchasing, and storeroom SR. SME and drive the departmental skill blocks creation and implementation for the MRO team.
  • Work closely with the finance, engineering, WER, and facilities services departments to develop a usage-based best practices strategy for determining inventoried items, safety stock quantities, reorder quantities, and an inventory waste elimination methodology.
  • Effectively and professionally manage and strengthen critical client, vendor, and supplier relationships.
  • Develop and implement improvements to existing MRO operational procedures and workflows to maximize departmental contribution and maximize cost efficiency.
  • Oversee and ensure storeroom security through continuous monitoring of security programs and frequent review of physical security measures and make recommendations of modifications to the program as required.
  • Monitor obsolete and non-moving materials to identify and recommend items for disposition.
  • Oversee the preparation of items as required for sale, return, or scrapping.
  • Facilitate the packaging and completion of required documentation to support shipping materials from the site to customers, vendors, or other company locations.
  • Supervise the receipt of incoming material shipments, verifying that appropriate receipt and Quality Control (QC) inspections are completed in a timely manner and appropriate Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) transactions are made to complete the receiving process.
  • Maintain knowledge of MRO current best practices in storeroom operations.
  • Assist in the establishment of, monitor, and oversee department related KPIs and metrics and analyze relevant data to help drive efficient business decisions.
  • Ensure accurate setup of all inventories, inventory hierarchies, and inventory and storeroom workflows in eMaint.
  • Review maintenance schedules and production requirements to ensure timely completion fulfillment.
  • Review material and inventory reports, analyze relevant data captured in the CMMS, and develop cost savings and improved efficiency initiatives based on data analysis.
