About the Role:

As a Staff, IT Systems Engineer with a focus on Business Analysis, you will manage vital elements of technology solutions delivery within Guardant Health’s global technology infrastructure. This role blends the realms of systems engineering and business analysis, requiring a robust background in system administration and an aptitude for decision-making driven by business objectives. Your responsibilities include participating in business assessments, interpreting project trends, and leading a global team of systems engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather system requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and service organization needs.
• Conduct business assessments to identify key issues and opportunities for system optimization, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Implement system changes and upgrades based on business needs, minimizing disruption to operations.
• Regularly update and maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, procedural manuals, and project status reports.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to a global team of systems engineers.
• Evaluate and recommend innovative solutions to improve the efficiency, productivity, and functionality of systems.
• Assist with troubleshooting system errors and hardware problems, utilizing insights from business assessments to inform problem-solving strategies.
• Proactively monitor system performance and security, implementing preventive measures informed by business analysis.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and 10 years of experience.
• Proven experience as a Systems Engineer, Business Analyst, or a similar role with a focus on Linux System Administration.
• Drives business strategy for high level activities related to a project or system.
• Demonstrated ability to automate tasks and use scripting languages like Bash and Python to optimize system operations.
• Mentors or manages lower-level team members.
• Conceives or collaborates on enterprise-wide software solutions and system architectures.
• Experience in architecting and implementing solutions on AWS (ECS, ECR, EC2, S3, IAM, etc.) and vSphere platforms.
• Proficiency in deploying Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform or other similar platforms.
• Adept at analyzing business needs and translating insights into system optimizations.
• Experience with project management tools and principles, including the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
• Familiarity with performance monitoring tools like Prometheus exporters and integrations, Grafana, Loki, ELK, and OpenSearch.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders and lead a global team.

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the base salary range for this full-time position is $160,800 to $218,000. The range does not include benefits, and if applicable, bonus, commission, or equity.
