Job Description:

Modifies materials to enhance instruction as requested by the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments and works directly with students with visual impairments including blindness. An example would be producing materials that require formatting such as textbooks. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

    

Position Specific Information (if Applicable):

    

Responsibilities:

--- Help ensure the safety of students with visual impairments.

--- Assist with instruction of students under the direction of a certified teacher in a classroom setting, one-on-one, or in small groups.

--- Collaborate and consult with the special education teacher in planning, scheduling, and coordination of daily and/or long range activities in accordance with the IEP.

--- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

--- Prepare adapted material in a timely fashion as needed by students with visual impairments including blindness and Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments.

--- Prepare materials that require special formatting such as textbooks that are not readily available, consumable workbooks, testing materials, and individual worksheets.

--- Prepare adapted materials using a variety of techniques, including tactile graphics, maps, and Braille.

--- Participation in professional development opportunities to advance Braille skills.

• All salary amounts listed above are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE. If applicable, part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.
