Job Description
The Director LS BD Excellence Fundamentals will be responsible for partnering with LS cross-functional teams to drive process excellence across the LS segment. This individual will develop and install best in class business systems practices that improve day-to-day process rigor and efficiencies. In addition to developing and installing best in class tools, this individual will also be responsible for driving a kaizen and continuous improvement culture across the LS organization. Reporting to the Vice President of LS BD Excellence, this strategic role focuses on driving transformative process improvements to deliver critical business objectives
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop, implement, and manage new foundation tools and processes, which will be used to drive improvement across the LS segment. Key focus will be on visual management, problem-solving, kaizen, and improved quality.
- Partner senior leadership to strategically deploy the developed tools and processes throughout the global LS organization. Goal is to move from new tools to tools that become part of the ethos of how BD delivers results.
- Partner with BD Excellence leaders across BU’s and Functional teams to drive adoption of BD Excellence tools and to actively solve critical issues
- Become a certified practitioner in problem solving and kaizen methodology. Utilize tools as facilitator of Kaizen and Problem-solving sessions across commercial, innovation and Operations
- Serve as a thought partner to the LS and BDX leadership teams, supporting the adoption and deployment of BD Excellence tools and mindset across departments and regions.
- Be a change champion in the development and deployment of BD Excellence tools and mindset
- Partner with BD Excellence leaders, functional experts and VP of LS BD Excellence to develop BD Excellence took kit, including roll out of tools in a prioritized fashion.
- Be an expert (can teach and execute) in the BD Excellence fundamentals of VM/DM, Problem Solving, and Kaizen.
- Drive BD Excellence education by providing broad coaching and trainings. Support the development and roll out of a Advanced Practitioner and Certified Practitioner program.
- Use bowlers, key performance indicators, and action plans to drive to monitor performance via metric.
- Take a hands-on approach to support BU’s in solving mission critical problems that require a “all hands on deck” approach.
KSA Requirements (Knowledge, Skill, Abilities)
- 3+ years proven experience in a company with continuous improvement culture and the core tools of visual management, problem solving, and kaizen
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or a related field, required.
- Extensive experience in a metric driven roll where success is operationalized, and continuous improvement is a way of life
- Strong analytical skills, MS Excel proficiency, SAP knowledge, interpersonal, managerial, and facilitation skills, including public speaking and moderating
- Proven experience coaching others and driving change.
- Change champion. Ability to drive culture and change. BD Excellence is new to most functions in BD and this individual will need to drive the change management journey
- Adept at both hands-on, detail-oriented tasks and strategic, big-picture thinking, with a strong emphasis on process orientation.
- Demonstrated ability to gain followership and drive results through change in a matrix organization
- Entrepreneurial mindset. Individual who can drive progress with limited oversite
- Action oriented individual who is highly proactive at solving problems and obtaining results.
Desired Skill / Experience
- Experience in a regulated field with Life Science or Diagnostics as a plus
- Experience in Manufacturing. Has spent real time on a factory floor
- Lean Six Sigma or Business System certifications
- Experience in a roll that requires extensive travel to go to Gemba
