SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for strategic leadership of the warehouse department focused on safety, quality, and efficiency. The Warehouse Manager will achieve long term goals and optimize workflows across teams.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the Overall Operations Functions
- Supports Local and Corporate Supply/Demand initiatives designed to deliver best-in-class service to Silgan clients at optimal overall cost savings structure.
- Provides input and recommendations for efficiency improvement or cost reduction in warehousing, freight, or distribution operations; coordinates across all relevant departments and locations to support customer satisfaction.
- Creates, implements, oversees, and provides leadership for the complete execution of all local warehousing & logistics standards and procedures in accordance with corporate policies and guidelines.
- Ensures all employees are aligned with Silgan core values of Safety, Winning Attitude, Ethical Conduct and Team Work.
- Collaborates with local and corporate functions to define and report critical service KPI’s for Warehouse and Logistics functions.
Manage and Direct all Manufacturing Warehouse Activities
- Guide and direct warehouse associates to include the following:
- Manage outgoing shipments. Prepares paperwork for UPS, LTL, full truck load and international shipments.
- Arranges outbound shipments and prepares paperwork in Oracle for scrap loads and Silgan Plants - raw material and dunnage.
- Monitors Customer Orders. Printing, delivery, planning reports and inventory aging reports for all customers every day. Correspond with customer service associates ensuring customer demands are being met.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, and damages and discrepancies, for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
- Contacts carrier representative to decide and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Perform cycle counts daily, weekly and monthly including Iline clearances.
- Train all personnel involved in Silgan Plastics Cycle Counting for daily, weekly monthly and Year End Inventory.
- Monitor Pending Table, Product Reversals, all production Holds, and Material Transaction when needed.
- Confers and correspond with Sales, Customer Service, and establishment representatives to rectify problems, such as damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
- Provides day-to-day guidance in Shipping by structuring workloads to maximum productivity and efficiency. Printing pick tickets from our inventory management system, constantly reviewing updates and prioritizing workloads.
- Train all personnel in forklift operations. 3 year re-certification of all authorized forklift drivers.
- Oversee training of all DOT drivers. Annual re-certification of DOT drivers.
- Ensure warehouse is compliant in all State and Federal DOT Regulations.
- Assists with other duties as assigned.
SKILLS:
Required:
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PP, Teams)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical problem-solving skills
- Class-A CDL License
- DOT Medical Certification
AUTHORITY LEVEL (if applicable):
- Directly manage all warehouse & logistics employees.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION:
Required: High School Diploma or the equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- 5+ years of warehousing experience managing high-volume SKU’s in high-velocity environment; at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity
- Experience tendering freight via truckload, inter-modal, less than truck load and partial packages
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and strong computer skills; ERP/MRP/DRP experience
Preferred:
- Experience in managing logistics and inventory in satellite warehouses
- Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing experience preferred
