Overview

The Product Metallurgist is responsible for a wide variety of activities and procedures throughout our production process. This position is part of a team tasked with the goal of maximizing safety, quality, and productivity at the Sinton location.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support on product and processes for the operators
• Provide technical support including product and operations information for SDI sales and SDI customers
• Approve orders
• Maintain order validation and premet review program parameters
• Set internal/external quality standards
• Make final disposition on nonconforming material
• Review galvanizing claims
• Develop corrective and preventive actions
• Provide continuous product and process improvement
• Coordinate ISO activities
• Assist with trials and trial tracking
• Validate customer claims and make corrective actions if needed

Qualifications

• B.S. degree or equivalent in metallurgy, material science, or a related engineering field
• Highly effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Travel requirements – some travel is necessary to visit customers, attend conferences, attend meetings at other SDI locations etc
