Job Description
The Director of Audience Segmentation plays a pivotal role within the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) Data Strategy and Analytics function, reporting directly to the Vice President (VP) of Data Strategy.
This leadership position is dedicated to the strategic development and activation of sophisticated audience data modeling and segmentation strategies, working in close collaboration with business leads across the Research and Media organization, NBCU Technology teams and media partners like Google and Meta.
The Director will lead efforts in the advancement of audience data sharing and clean room practices across UFEG and the wider NBCU business, aligning with key stakeholders including Universal Domestic and International, Peacock streaming, Universal Destinations & Experiences (Theme Parks) and others on strategy, integration and governance. Responsibilities:
Audience Segmentation Strategy: Develop and implement advanced audience segmentation and modeling strategies using demographic, behavioral and attitudinal data in our internal clean room as well as externally to precisely target and understand audiences; manage data collection, survey and modeling agency through audience design, generation and activation.
Collaborative Integration: Work closely with marketing, media, ad platform and technology teams to integrate audience segmentation models into the broader analytics functions, enhancing the understanding of audiences and market dynamics.
Data Governance and Privacy: Lead the adherence to data governance practices and navigate the global data privacy landscape, ensuring UFEG's audience data strategies comply with all regulations and standards.
Project Management: Exhibit outstanding project management skills, overseeing the successful execution of audience segmentation projects and initiatives across various departments.
Internal and External Partnerships: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal data owners and external data vendors to enhance UFEG's data capabilities and access to diverse data sets.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
A degree in Data Science, Marketing, Business, or a related field is preferable, emphasizing quantitative analysis.
Proven expertise in developing and implementing custom audience segmentation using demographic, behavioral, and attitudinal data.
Deep knowledge of data governance and global data privacy regulations, ensuring compliance across audience data strategies.
Strong project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
Experience integrating audience segmentation into broader analytics functions for enhanced market and audience insights.
Desired Characteristics:
Background in the entertainment or movie industry preferred, with a solid track record of building partnerships with internal and external data stakeholders.
Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
