JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Building Services Supervisor assists the Building Services Manager in maintaining a high-quality standard of cleaning service. This position supervises daily operations, the completion of assignments on a daily basis, and ensures that staffing assignments are equitable. The Supervisor makes recommendations for hiring, firing, training, supervising daily operations, motivating, and evaluating performance of subordinates, and coordinating custodial operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attends meetings and in services as assigned.
- Establishes and maintains housekeeping schedules and assigns employees to areas for various housekeeping duties.
- Conducts comprehensive inspections checking the completion of work assignments and ensuring quality standards expectations.
- Recommends, implements procedural changes, and keeps staff informed of those changes.
- Maintains employees work schedule, ensures the staff have the proper tools to complete the assignment.
- Estimates amount and type of materials, supplies and equipment required for special projects.
- Recommends promotions, transfers, disciplinary action, and vacation schedules.
- Trains, re-trains, orients, and monitors employees on job tasks, equipment operations, University of Tennessee and departmental policies, performance standards and related areas.
- Follows safety policies and procedures while on duty and enforce importance of safe work practices.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of custodial supervision.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid Driver's License required to drive a UT vehicle. (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and walk for prolonged periods; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent customer and personal services skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to maintain and effectively construct all custodial duties.
- Ability to work independently, utilize time effectively, and complete work by assigned deadlines.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position is required to report to the designated work location to ensure operation of essential campus functions or departments during an emergency, or when the University has suspended or delayed operations. Work hours are 5 am – 2 pm. This position may occasionally work weekends.
