<p>We are looking for a talented <strong>School to Work – Engineering (Student)</strong> to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Cummins Inc. facility in Columbus, IN.</p> <p><span><strong>In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: </strong></span></p> <ul> <li><span><strong>Ensure Reliable Data Acquisition</strong>: Maintain and troubleshoot systems like Cyflex, Calterm, and Indicom, to help guarantee accurate and uninterrupted data flow for testing and analysis.</span></li> <li><span><strong>Maintain Sensor Accuracy</strong>: Calibrate and verify sensors and instruments to ensure that engineering teams receive trustworthy data for decision-making.</span></li> <li><span><strong>Support Engine Testing Operations</strong>: Directly enable critical testing procedures in and around test cells through mechanical tasks such as engine installation and removal. </span></li> <li><span><strong>Optimize Test Cell Equipment</strong>: Configure and maintain test cell setups ensuring smooth operations and minimizing downtime.</span></li> <li><span><strong>Monitor Emissions and Performance Metrics</strong>: Track emissions and exhaust data essential for regulatory and performance evaluations using operating systems such as AVL, Horiba and FTIR. </span></li> <li><span><strong>Track Particulate Matter and Efficiency</strong>: Use PM measurement tools and fluid flow meters, to assess engine efficiency and environmental impact.</span></li> <li><span><strong>Deliver Actionable Data to Engineers</strong>: Support engineering teams in validating designs and improving product performance with accurate data collection and delivery.</span></li> <li><span><strong>Collaborate to Meet Testing Goals</strong>: Work closely with engineers and help align testing activities with development timelines, contributing to successful project outcomes.</span></li> </ul> <p><span><b>To be successful in this role you will need the following: </b></span></p><ul><li><span><b>Technical Proficiency</b>: Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems (Cyflex, Calterm, Indicom) and emissions tools (AVL, Horiba, CAI, FTIR) to ensure accurate setup, calibration, and troubleshooting.</span></li><li><span><b>Mechanical Aptitude</b>: Ability to perform engine installations, removals, and test cell configurations with precision and safety, supporting smooth test operations.</span></li><li><span><b>Attention to Detail</b>: Ability to monitor and collect data from various instruments (PM measurement tools, load cells, fluid flow meters) with accuracy, ensuring reliable inputs for engineering analysis.</span></li><li><span><b>Collaboration &amp; Communication</b>: Work closely with engineering teams to understand test objectives, share findings clearly, and contribute to timely project execution.</span></li><li><span><b>Problem-Solving Mindset</b>: Ability to use available tools and resources to resolve issues in instrumentation, mechanical setup, or data anomalies efficiently. </span></li></ul><p> </p><p><span><b>Education/Experience</b></span></p><ul><li><span>Must be 16 years of age, in high school or post-secondary school. </span></li><li><span>No GPA Requirement.</span></li><li><span>Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security.</span></li><li><span>This is a part-time position, limited to 19 hours per week, which is designed to support your school schedule. </span></li></ul> <p><span><strong>Areas of Study</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Cybersecurity Engineering</span></li><li><span>Computer Science</span></li></ul><p> </p><p><span><strong>Additional Information</strong></span></p><ul><li><span>Student currently enrolled in a cybersecurity program or pursuing a cybersecurity specialization preferred.</span></li></ul> <p></p> Cummins is an equal opportunity employer.
